Hi, I planted a Southern Magnolia 7 or 8 years ago from HD and although it's grown substantially it has never flowered. The foliage is extremely healthy and green and it has more leaves than most I've seen. It gets plenty of water and fertilizer yearly because when I planted it I built a flowerbed at its base and take care of my annuals regularly. It's located in direct full sun. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. |
Mechelle, I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you. You aren't doing anything wrong with that Magnolia tree. Sometimes they are just slow to come into flower bearing. Avoid fertilizing it for a while as an excessive vigor can sometimes slow bloom production. Otherwise we unfortunately have to just wait on the tree to start blooming. Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon! |
