I live in Southwest Florida and have had a pigmy palm tree in my front yard for many years and suddenly the fronds are turning brown and it appears to be dying. What can I do to save this tree.

Your palm tree may be suffering from a root related stress such as loss of roots, lack of water, soggy wet conditions, or even some type of chemical injury such as might be caused by a lawn weed control product.

I suggest that you take a frond sample from the plant along with a photo of the plant in its growing location (if possible) to your County Extension Office to see if they can help diagnose the problem and recommend an appropriate course of action.

Their contact info is:
Collier County Extension, 14700 Immokalee Road, Naples, FL 34120-1468
Phone: (239) 353-4244
