|I live in southeastern Mi. want to have beautiful Christmas displays of holiday clippings, what do you suggest for planting. Need easy care, quick growing. Thanks in advance, Peggy|
|Many different kinds of greenery can be used for holiday decorations. Pines, firs and cedars are good to use for indoor decoration since they dry out slowly and hold their needles best at warm interior temperatures. They may last for several weeks if properly treated and cared for. Hemlock, spruces and most broadleaf evergreens will last longer if used outdoors. Holly, camellia, ivy, boxwood, juniper and laurel are often used in holiday decorations, as well. Purchase the largest plants you can afford because when you gather your material for decorations you'll actually be pruning your plants so you'll need enough on the plant to prune and yet to allow the plant to grow the following year.
Best wishes with your projects!
