I live in Colorado and have Poppies in my back yard. Should I cut those back after it blooms? I have a stalk with a dead flower on the end and do not know if I should just leave it or not. Thanks, Shawn

Whether or not you cut the spent flower stems down is a personal choice. It won't hurt the plant to cut them off, all the way down to foliage level. Many gardeners leave them on the plant. They will turn into tannish colored seed pods which look interesting in the garden but they will also spill their seeds onto the bed, which assures you of lots of new poppy plants next year. Enjoy your garden!
