I grew French Vanilla Marigold Hybrids last year. I deheaded the flowers and saved them for this year. Will they germinate and grow this year? Any special instructions on how to grow them?

The interesting thing about saving seed from hybrid plants is that you never know what you'll get...the plants will be marigolds, but the flowers may be different colors, or smaller, or the plant in general may be less vigorous or produce fewer flowers. On the other hand, you might get something extraordinary! (And if you do, let Burpee know!)

So, I guess what I'm saying is that if you want French Vanilla marigolds, you should get some fresh seed and plant that. If you're willing to take your chances, go ahead and plant! Marigolds are pretty easy to grow--no special treatment needed.

(Some hybrid seeds are sterile and won't grow, but I'm not familiar with this problem in this variety.)
