|I have reciently bought a new house that had two Live Oak trees in the front lawn. One of which is green and looks healthy the other dosnt look to good I have trimed it back because of the brown leaves, there is still spring in the branches and some of the branches that I cut were green but some were dead and dry. If it is dead what kind of tree would be best for my area?|
That tree is stressed for some reason, perhaps drought stress or construction damage or even weed killer injury. Give your live oak some time to see whether it will recover or not. In the meantime water the area beneath the branches with a good soaking every 2 or 3 weeks when it doesn't rain in the heat of summer.
Another good oak species to consider is Monterrey oak or Mexican white oak.
