|I live in Idaho Springs, CO and my grass in my backyard is looking dead. We water twice a day and have fetilized. What do we need to do?|
|If you're watering regularly and feeding, my guess is that you have cool season grasses which go dormant during hot weather. The only way around this is to overseed with warm season grass seed in April or May. By June these warm season grass will begin to green up your lawn and will keep it green until the weather cools in the fall. Then they will go dormant and your cool season grasses will begin growing and turn green. You probably have a mixture of fescues and ryegrass. Next spring try overseeding with Kentucky Bluegrass and I'm sure you'll notice a difference. I wouldn't recommend overseeding now (in July) because your summer is short and by the time the grasses started to grow, cool weather would return.|
Best wishes with your lawn.
