I have alot of daylillies and I need some care tips - 1) once the flower blooms and dies do I snap it off? 2)sometimes there are tight looking pods on the stalk instead of a flower, do I snap that off? 3)when all the flowers are off the stalk do I cut the stalk at the base or wait till it dries up b itself? |
Daylily flowers last only a day so most gardeners go out in the early evening and snap the faded flowers off. The tight looking pods on your plant are either unopened flowers or they are seed pods. If they are seed pods, I'd snap them off, too. When the flower stalk stops producing flowers, cut it off and a new flower stalk will sometimes emerge later in the summer. Enjoy your daylilies! |
