|We are interested in planting either a lime or grapefruit tree in our front lawn, but we don't know if there is any special prep needed or treatments to use in the ground before the tree is planted. Also, we're not sure if those two types of fruit are self-pollinating or not & if not, would two trees be better than one?|
I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.
To establish a citrus tree select a spot with good sun and well drained soil. Those fruit types are self pollinating. Water the trees in well after planting and maintain good soil moisture without keeping it soggy wet as that leaves roots without oxygen and can be deadly to the trees.
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
