I planted a wisteria about 6 weeks ago so it would climb our arbor and seemd well. Now it has withered completely and looks dead or dying. I scraped some bark and there seems to be some green there. Should I plant anotherone now or wait until fall. Thanks Mary Alice from SC.

Plants can suffer from transplant shock and that's what it sounds like is happening with your wisteria. Since you found green tissue in the stems, they're still alive and that's a good sign. I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and allow it to grow for a few months more before giving up on it. Be sure to water deeply once each week and try pruning the stems down to encourage healthy new growth.

Best wishes with your wisteria!
