I planted Black eyed susans about three weeks ago. THey were in pots and terribly root bound. I pulled them apart and loosened the roots before planting. Seemed ok until this week they are starting to wilt. To much watering? just the end of their season? Will they come back next year?

I think they are getting too much water. While they like a deep soaking once a week, if the soil doesn't drain quickly they are susceptible to root rot. If the soil stays too moist for too long, the roots can suffocate from lack of oxygen. I'd cut back on watering and wait to see what happens. I hope they recover and develop healthy roots so they can come back next year.

Best wishes with your garden!
