My husband bought me a Bird of Paradise. I have it in a X-Large pot on my covered front porch. I have had it for about 1 1/2 years. It has the most beautiful and large green leaves on it but it has not bloomed yet. It is now appox. 8 feet tall. What can I do to help it produce blooms?

Jennifer,

It may need a little more light than it is getting now. Light is needed by the foliage to produce carbohydrates which in turn produce blooms. Take care not to overwater it, allowing it to get a bit dry at times. A little fertilizer is helpful but don't overdo it. Provide this type of care and some increased light and your plant should start blooming for you.
