|I live on an island (Ono) in the coastal area of Alabama and every summer (like late July) my ST. Augustine developes brown patch and the whole yard goes into decline. I am suspecting chinch bugs. If so what do I need to do and how do I check for them? I also have a well that our irragation is connected to and it is showing 1320 per million of salt. I was told that St. Augustine can tolerate 1500 per million. True or not?|
The following web sites provide good info on chinch bugs for you to see if that is what you have and what to do about them.
Regarding the salt content of your water that is rather marginal and will stress the grass some. I suggest you contact your County Extension Office about this and see if they have more information regarding what you might be able to do about it if anything.
Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
