|Why is the inside meat of my globe tomatoes somewhat white? We pick them when they are almost ripe. The variety may not be globe that was just a guess. We live in central Florida. We planted the tomatoes from seed in May and they are grown in five gallon buckets. They are somewhat shaded and we water every other day. We have used 6-6-6 fertilizer once since we planted them. Thank you.|
That is often due to heat and some varieties are much more affected than others. There is nothing you can do and it sounds like you are giving them good care, except that the "somewhat shaded" part may be less light than the plants want or need for top performance. However I don't think it is related to the white centers. I bet in fall with cooling temps that condition improves somewhat. If not try another variety next year.
Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
