I am noticing slugs on some of the leaves of my flowers in my flower beds around the house. Are they harmful to plants & flowers or just a nuisance?

Slugs do feed on plant leaves so if you are finding some on yours, you'll eventually discover the damage they're doing. You can pick them off when you see them and/or you can trap them by up-ending a terra cotta pot, setting it in the garden and propping it up with a stone. The slugs will crawl in to hide and you can scrape them out every morning. If you'd prefer to use a chemical control, Sluggo or EscarGo are both iron-based baits that will poison the slugs but not harm people, pets or birds.

Best wishes with your garden!
