Your Ken Donson clematis blooms in late summer and early fall. With this clematis, all first flowering comes from last season's ripening stems. To prune, take your clues from your plant. In early spring watch for swelling leaf buds beginning to show. Cut all dead material off above these swelling buds. Be sure all new growth is tied to a trellis, etc. Do not tie too tightly, so growth will not be hampered or cracked by tying too tight.

Enjoy your clematis!
