|hi, i have my first bromeliad plant. can you answer some of these questions please:
how do you know how old your plant is
how often do you mist it
can filtered tap water be used or distilled
how old can the plant live to be
what does a 'pup' look like, how many does it usually have. how do you feed a 'pup'; how do you know when it should flower but doesn't; can you tell how big a plant would get somehow? how do you know when to tranplant a bromeliad to a bigger pot, or should you mess with it at all. is propogating the pups usually successful. what should you look for before you use the
You can use tap water but as with all plants rainwater is better. Distilled water is fine but not necessary unless your tap water is really poor quality. To grow a put cut or break it away from the base of the mother plant and pot it in fresh potting mix in a new container. Keep the soil slightly moist but not too wet. It may take a while but the plant should root and become well established in time.
