A friend has a weed called Black Medic in her yard and has received various suggestions about how to get rid of it. I decided to ask the experts, do you have any suggestions? Thank You, Elaine Knapp |
Black medic is relatively easy to pull, roots and all, especially after a rain when the soil is soft. Hand pulling is your first option. Since Black medic is a broadleaf weed, you can also control it with a broadleaf weed killer containing 2,4-D. If the weed has been in the lawn for several seasons, there may be hundreds of seeds which may germinate over a period of years. If Black medic has been a long-standing weed, you may want to treat the lawn with a pre-emergent weed control product such the corn-gluten based Weed Stopper Plus or Weedzstop. |
