Your daylily roots don't need to be refrigerated. Just plant them in your garden and when winter weather arrives they'll get the required chill. It's important to get them into the ground as soon as you can. Start by soaking the roots for an hours or so in tepid water to help rehydrate them. Prepare the soil by incorporating compost, peat moss, course sand or well-rotted manure. The hole should be large enough to accommodate the roots when the roots are spread horizontally. The crown of the plant(where the roots meet the top) should be about one inch below the soil surface. Firm the soil gently and water immediately.
