My aunt sent me a few avocados from Puerto Rico, and I planted 1 seed. Now I have a pretty tree growing, is about 3ft tall. Recently I heard that I needed to plant about 4 or more together in order for them to produce avocados in the future. Is this true? What do I do???

What you've heard is a rumor. Avocado trees are self-pollinating, because their flowers are unique, having both female and male organs. All you need is a gentle breeze to transfer pollen for the tree to produce fruit.
