Unfortunately the dahlia tubers are not likely to survive until next spring without being planted, so your best bet is to plant them now. Dahlia tubers are storage organs and they will begin to shrivel up if you don't get them into the ground as soon as possible so they can restock their carbohydrates. They may produce some foliage before cold weather hits and they die back. They will then need to be lifted and stored for the winter. Mark your calendar to remind you to plant them back into the ground next spring and they should reward you with lush foliage and lots of flowers.
