Any suggestions on what plants can survive next to a fountain. Currently we have agapanthas surrounding our fountain, but they do not survive for very long.

I suspect that the splashing water keeps the soil on the moist side so your best bets will be plants that enjoy moist soils. Here are some suggestions:

Ajuga (Ajuga reptans); Sweetspire (Itea virginica); Astilbe (Astilbe); Beebalm (Monarda); Bleeding Heart (Dicentra spectabilis); Snakeroot Cimcifuga Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis); Daylily (Hemerocallis); Cinnamon Fern, Hosta, Japanese Iris, Yellow Flag Iris, Ligularia, Liriope, Japanese Bloodgrass, Obedient Plant, Plumbago, Primrose, Forget me not, Houttuynia, Sweet Woodruff, Ginger and Virginia bluebells. I'm sure there are more options at your local garden center. Look for plants that appreciate moist soils.

Best wishes with your garden!
