Sago Palms and brown grass - Knowledgebase Question

We live in Lutz FL. Our Sago palm is having white, what appears to look like sand, heading from the bottom up. Also the lawn has been beautiful but we are now finding a brown patch about 3 ft by 5 ft in the front yard. There is some thatch there and if we remove it and fertilize, should it come back? Your sago may be suffering from scale or mealybugs. Take a sample of the white material on a frond to your County Extension Office for them to look over and diagnose. Then an appropriate remedy can be made. Your lawn may be suffering from take all patch or chinch bugs or grubs. Again a sample is the best way to know for sure. Contact your Extension Office first to find out the proper type of sample to bring in. Their contact info is:
