I've done everything I've learned - plenty of water, plenty of nutrients - and my grass still has brown and thin spots. What is the next step?

The two most common reasons for brown spots in lawns are dog urine and cool season grass types which die out during the hot weather. They will green up again in the fall. If you don't think dog urine is causing the brown areas, it's probably grass type. You can rake the brown areas to remove debris and then overseed to eliminate the browning. Best wishes with your lawn!
