|I have an area under some very large old trees that I want to get rid of the grass without having to dig it out and I want to put dirt and mulch in the area. Is there a product I can use that will kill the grass but won't damage the trees or the life of the trees and that I can eventually plant flowers in the area.

|There are no chemicals that you can safely use to eradicate the grass under your trees but you can cover the area with a water permeable weed barrier to kill the weeds and grass. Use a fabric weed barrier to block sunlight and the grasses and weeds will die out. Of course you will still have to rake the dead grass out of the area prior to planting, but it should be easier to do than hand pulling the live weeds. Good luck with your project!
