Can I grow hydrangeas inside in my sunny apartment in Puerto Rico? |
Yes, you can grow hydrangeas indoors, although they only flower during the spring or early summer. During this time, they require lots of water and some shade from the sun during midday. Prune the plants after flowering to about one-third their previous height, repot, and keep watering generously. Select the next year's flowering stalks and pinch off any others that begin to grow. During the fall and winter, move plants to a cool location and reduce watering. In late winter, begin to water more and fertilize with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer to ready your plant for the spring floral show! |
