Hello,

I'm a transplanted Midwesterner living in Atlanta. Planting in a totally clay soil is new to me. So far I've dug up areas, and replaced it with purchased soil. I'm running out of places to put the clay I remove. Is there something I can mix with clay to make it sustainable for growing flowers and shrubs?

Pamela,
Yes, lots of compost works wonders at turning a clay into a good soil for many types of plants. If possible mix 1 part compost to 3 parts soil. Create somewhat raised planting bed areas to facilitate good drainage.
