I have large beds of Pachysandra but there are bare spots between where stiltgrass took over. I want to get rid of stiltgrass. I googled and learned to pull or cut the stiltgrass in September so that seeds are not formed. I did all this. Stiltgrass is an annual plant. So, I hope this works. However I wonder whether there is an effective herbicide to kill it while not killing the Pachysandra. In Google, a herbicide was suggested but where can I get it? Thanks for your help. Toon |
Now that you have the stiltgrass removed from your pachysandra beds you can apply a pre-emergent herbicide such as Preen, or one made from corn gluten meal. Corn gluten is sold under several brand names (WOW! is one brand). Look for corn gluten based herbicides at your local garden center or in the organic section of gardening catalogs. Pre-emergent herbicides will stop weed seeds from germinating but will not harm other plants such as your pachysandra. Best wishes with your garden! |
