Either fall or spring are good seasons to plant and transplant landscape trees and shrubs. I prefer fall because temperatures are cooler and rainfall usually abundant. Both will help the roots become established without the stress of summertime heat. I'd transplant now so the live oak will be ready to grow in the spring. Enjoy!
