I have some austrian pines that the needles are turning brown on. And I have also notices some on the sides of the road doing the same thing. Is this a lack of some kind of nutrient or are the trees dying off? Thank you

Evergreens eventually do lose some of their foliage, and fall is the time they shed their oldest needles. In the spring the pines will put out new growth and by then the old, dead needles will have fallen off the tree. It's nothing to worry about - needle shed at this time of year is perfectly normal and natural. Enjoy your garden!
