What is happening when the leafs is turning brown at the tips and appear to be falling off of the the limbs? Ground to wet? Lack of sun? Tree has been in the ground since early spring and appeared to be okay until it started to get cooler. Currently the tree is planted on the North side of the house and receives morning sun.

Thanks

Lace leaf maples are subject to leaf burn (crispy leaf margins) when they are over watered or when they receive too much sunshine. Is it possible that the angle of the sun has shifted enough (or deciduous trees that were shading the maple have dropped their leaves) exposing your maple to more direct sunshine? Or, have you had lots of rain and is the soil over saturated? Either of these conditions can cause leaf symptoms. Either way, since it is fall, the leaves will drop within the next few weeks. Rake them up and remove them from the garden. Your maple should leaf out normally next spring.
