Most gardeners think of tomato plants as annuals but tomatoes are actually perennials in areas with mild winter temperatures such as yours. Rather than taking them indoors, find a sunny spot outdoors that's near a fence or side of a building where heat will be reflected and radiated back toward the plant at night. Your tomato plant may not flower and bear fruit, but it will survive and be ready to flower in the very early spring. I'd avoid taking the plants indoors. They won't be happy and will probably lose all their leaves.

Best wishes with your tomatoes!
