I just received some dahlia tubers. Can I plant them now, hoping they won't sprout out of the ground until after the "frost" period is over, or do I have to wait until there is not danger of frost, even before I plant?

Hold off on planting the dahlia tubers until your soil has warmed up a bit. Before planting work some organic matter into your soil, to help loosen it so the roots can easily penetrate. Dahlias are native to Mexico and Guatemala, so they prefer warmer temperatures than you are experiencing now!
