| I planted a pot of double red hollyhock last spring. They didn't bloom but the plant just became more bushy. Here it is in January in El Paso and it is still bushy-no blooms. Help! Thank you, Carol |
| Hollyhocks are biennial. This means they will grow foliage the first year and produce flowers the second year. If you allow the spent flowers to remain on the plant they will form seeds which will fall to the ground and begin growing. Those plants have the potential to flower next year. You can have hollyhocks blooming each year if you allow the plants to produce seeds. Enjoy! |
