Our house faces North East and has a long front porch. Therefore, the porch area does not get much sunlight. I would like to plant some type of perennial in a large "urn" on either side of the front door. What type will grow well in my area with little or no sunlight?

Some perennial flowers that will grow well in the shade and in containers include Bergenia, Hosta, Agapanthus, Coral Bells, and lavender. Don't forget some colorful annuals and, with protection in your climate may make it through the winter, such as impatiens, begonias and coleus.
