Please give me some suggestions on some good trees to plant at 9000ft elevation. I would like to plant smaller ornamental type trees. It would be a southern exposure. I really like crabapples. |
You can grow many different trees in alpine settings. Some ot consider are flowering plum and cherry, Mt. Ash, willows. and many evergreens. Which tree you choose will depend on the water availability and site among other factors. Rather than going into all the details of each type, I'll refer you to a catalog that specializes in Alpine gardening. Rocky Mountain Rare Plants, 1706 Deerpath Rd., Franktown, CO 80116-9462, www.rmrp.com. They specilize in alpine flowers, but may have information on trees also. |
