There are several books that you might find helpful, including:

Plants of the Pacific Northwest Coast, by Pojar & MacKinnon, Lone Pine Publishing, #180, 16149 Redmond Way, Redmond, WA 98052 ISBN 1-55105-040-0.

Plants and Animals of the Pacific Northwest by Eugene N. Kozloff, University of Washington Press, ISBN 0-295-95598-X

Gardening with native Plants of the Pacific Northwest by Arthur R. Kruckeberg, University of Washington Press, ISBN 0-295-96853-2

Each of these books is loaded with pictures and text about the most commonly encountered plants in your area. You might also tour the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden in Sequim. Contact the WSU Cooperative Extension office for directions to the garden, and talk to local Master Gardeners who can help you. Phone the Extension office at (206) 417-2279. They're located at 223 E. 4th St., Port Angeles, WA 98363-3098
