Dear Experts, I live in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. I have a 7 ft. Large Bird of Paradise that is too close to the house and would like to move it. When is the best time to do this and how. I also have a lot of shoots around the main one, is it okay to separate them and plant them. If so, what is the best way to do that. Thanks, Brandon

You can transplant it by digging it with as much of the roots as is practical. Slide a tarp beneath it and use that to drag it to the new location or if you have help, to carry the tarp corners making it easier. Set it at the same depth and water it in well. If you can provide some shade for it for a week or so it will have an easier time adjusting. The bird of paradise can be divided. Just use a sharp shovel to separate them. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
