two trees live oak and red oak replaced the front yard with st. augustine after 1 season it is dirt again

St. Augustine thrives in sunshine and won't tolerate the shade of your trees, or the dry soil beneath them. Other grass varieties won't grow well in your summer heat. I am afraid the best thing to plant would be groundcover. Not what you wanted to hear, I'm sure, but it is the best advice we have!
