i am new to this landscaping gardening etc. anyway, i have some old shrubs in my flower bed that i want to replace, what do i do first? |
Your first step will be to physically remove the shrubs by pruning them back to make them easier to handle and then digging them out, roots and all. Depending upon what kinds of shrubs they are and how long they have been planted, the root systems may be extensive or they may be concentrated directly under the shrub. You won't know until you start digging! You can then decide what you'd like to plant in replacement. You can get some ideas from your own neighborhood. As you walk or drive through the neighborhood, make a note of any shrubs you especially like. You can probably find them in your local garden center. Best wishes with your project! |
