|I live in North-Central Florida & need to plant a tree for screening between neighbors. It needs to be wide, full, low limbed, and should stay no more than 20-25 ft tall. Location is full sun, well drained, sandy, 15 ft from porch and fence. Recommendations please.|
|Here are some considerations:|
Bottle brush (Callistemon citrinus (lanceolatus) grows to about 20'; Geiger tree
(Cordia sebestena) reaches 25'; Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) grows to 20'; Orchid tree(Bauhinia spp) grows to 20-25'; Sea-grape (Coccoloba uvifera) to 20'; and Wax myrtle (Myrica cerifera), which grows to about 25'. All grow well in your region and all can be pruned if they outgrow their places. Or, you might consider growing a large shrub rather than a tree. Camellias, Kumquat and Chinese Hollies won't grow as tall as a small tree, but will provide privacy and seasonal color.
Best wishes with your landscape!
