Organic gardening begins with healthy soil. Start by adding aged manure or compost, spreading it around your garden in a layer that is three to four inches thick. Dig it into the soil to a depth of 8-10 inches, then level the soil and plant. You will find that this compost is nearly all of the fertilizer you need. On top of enriching your soil, it will aid in creating the consistency needed for good drainage and growth. After planting you can add organic mulch over the bare soil and between the plants to help suppress weeds. Hope you have a bountiful harvest!
