Could I plant a gloriosa lily in a container and expect it to climb a trellis this summer in Boston MA? If so how many bulbs per container?

Yes you can! Ideally, you'd have started the tubers indoors about a month ago, but yours will catch up, I'm sure. Ideally you should only plant one tuber 4" deep per 8" diameter pot in well-drained soil. Place the pot in full sun, keep itwell watered and feed every two weeks to keep your lily growing and blooming. After bloom has ended, gradually taper off on watering. You can store the tubers in dry wood shavings at 55-60F for the winter, and start the cycle over.
