We replanted one strip of lawn after some driveway construction, and the new lawn looked fine last summer, but this winter it has turned yellow, only where it was replanted.

If you placed sod in the area, either the grass variety is one that browns out during winter but greens up in the summer when the weather is warm, or the sod was not properly laid and the roots did not make good contact with the soil. check to make sure it is well rooted by prying up just a corner with a screwdriver or trowel and trying to roll it up a bit. Well rooted sod won't budge, but sod with problems rooting will roll right up. If the sod is not well rooted, roll it up, scratch the soil with a rake to roughen it up and then relay the sod. It should root and when it does, it will green up. Best wishes with your lawn!
