I recently planted 2 Royal palm trees. They were bought with brown branches. Should I cut these branches or will they eventually get green. Should I fertilize them now or should I wait. I also would like to know if I could prune them to avoid the grouth of them. I have seen royal palm with a very swollen trunk, but the hight is 8 to 12 feet. If so, Please indicate how.

Brown fronds are dead and can be cut off at any time of the year. Since you have only recently planted your palms, don't feed them now. Instead, give them 6-8 weeks to establish their root systems and then put them on a regualr feeding schedule. Royal palms are slow growers - that is why they have thick trunks. To get yours to grow in that fashion, don't feed them very often. To keep them looking neat and trim, cut off the dead or dying fronds whenever you notice them. Best wishes with your new palms!
