|I'm looking for shrubs that will grow in a zone 7 (Baltimore, MD) city street median that is in the shade. They need to be drought tolerant, in the 2-3 foot range and evergreen. Are there any common varieties that would meet all of these needs? If not, are there any colorful perennials that might work? Thanks!|
|There are several small shrubs you can consider:
Thuja occidentalis 'Golden Globe' is evergreen and remains 2-3 feet tall and wide; Berberis thunbergii 'Rosy Glow' has beautiful summer and winter color; Buxus 'Green Gem' ; Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald n Gold', and Euonymus f. 'Emerald Gaiety' are all small plants with colorful foliage. Perennials might include: Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Blue Mist, Astilbe, and Bee Balm. Hope one of these suggestions is just right for your garden.
