How do you grow hemlock seedlings? What do we need to do and watch for in order for them to grow successfully? We will be transplanting them. |
Hemlock seedlings will have a root equal in length to the height of the seedling, so when digging the plants, be sure to dig deep enough to keep the entire root system intact. When digging a hole for the transplant, make sure it's deep enough to accommodate the root. Water your transplants well after planting and they should adjust quickly to their new homes. Hemlocks will grow best in full sun, but will grow in partial shade, as well. Give your transplants plenty of time to become established before feeding them. Good luck with your new evergreens. |
