| The first step is to allow the soil to dry out before walking on the lawn or doing any work to it. Once it has drained, rake well to remove dead grass and roots and then overseed the entire lawn. Choose a grass seed similar to what you are already growing. After the seeds are up and ready to mow, mow the lawn and then fertilize it.
