I have flower beds under bald cypress trees. There are LOTS of dried fronds that have fallen over the winter. Are they OK to leave for mulch, or should they be removed?

Bald cypress mulch is highly prized by landscapers because it lasts so long and does a terrific job in suppressing weeds. I'd leave at least some of it where it is. You don't want the mulch so thick that it repels any water you use for your plants but you should be safe in using 3-4 inches of the mulch in the flower beds. Simply rake out the excess and use it in other beds on your property. Best wishes with your garden!
