|Crape myrtles bloom on new growth so if your plant has not yet begun to grow, you can safely prune. If it has already sprouted new growth, wait until after flowering has finished and then do your pruning. January and February are the best times to prune so mark your calendar for next year and you'll be able to prune right on time.
